Featured Antique Chinese bone / ivory ?

    My guess is an Opera glass handle.

    I don't know what the item is, but the carving and inlay look European to me, rather than Chinese.

    if it got black specks throughout the piece it is bone because those are remnance of bloodvessels in the bone. If it is white al the way it is ivory and that is difficult to sell because of the new regulations about ivory selling.

    Just so we don't spread misinformation:
    No one can identify a material as ivory just because it is white. There is such a thing as bleached bone, and there are ivory simulants. For it to be identified as ivory we need to see the presence of Schreger lines.

    I blew this up 4X, saw no schreger lines, thinking quite possibly nice carving in bone....

    the cracks seem to say ivory
    the dots seem to say bone.....
