Hi, I'm new to the forums. I found this antique chest at a local auction and I was wondering if anybody would know the age and the value of it. It is made by the Rogers-Wade furniture company from Paris, TX. I have looked all over the internet and haven't been able to find a lot of information. Thank you.

All I know about Paris, Texas.

See if you can spot the factory anywhere.

I don't see anything particularly old about it. Someone did give it a nice paint job though. It looks like 1950s from the mark and construction. Beyond that... no idea.

I agree with Evelyb . If the current paint job is still good , Id leave it alone . Otherwise , its just a run of the mill dresser .

More like 1930s. Paint job and knobs are much later. It is the kind of thing we sell for around $100.00, give or take here in semi-rural Midwest (in good painted condition). Doesn't really matter who made it value-wise.

If the OP is in Texas, especially in the area of the factory, there'd be a premium on this one. Texans pay extra for Texas stuff. It wouldn't sell for much more here than it would around Brad. In Texas though...I'd throw it in an auction and see what happened.

As a native (Mexican-American) Texan, you are so right!!!! Sons and daughters of the Republic pay a premium for Lone Star State stuff!

I found a little employee pin from a Texas-Louisiana shortline railroad once. In a random Ebay auction lot, no less. Started it at ten bucks and it was bid up to over $300. Railroad collectors plus Texas equalled real money.
