Hi everyone, I purchased this vase about 6 months ago, its been on my bookshelf since I purchased it. It has a beautiful goldish patina to it. That's why I purchased it. It a small vase it's about 6 to 7 inches and weighs 1lb 4oz. Initially I thought it was probably Chinese or some type of asian vase but I'm really uncertain since I cant find any other examples to compare it too. Let me know what yall think

I might be wrong on the metal, but I thought it was bronze. Here's a couple of more photos 15906753193611.jpg 15906752944290.jpg

When I first looked my first thought was Chinese.
    1930s or earlier.
I keep looking at the neck not sure about it now. Is that what is bothering you as well?
However, the heavy weight seems correct.

Yeah it was the neck that was bothering me. It has a Chinese style shape, the shape resembles a Hu form style vase, but really uncertain.

    Is there a gap here?

I have one at the store, I'm pretty sure the metal is nicely folded and finished over the bottom plate.

Should add, my vase is not the same shape as yours.

Yes it is folded over the top. Dose yours have any markings or tags on it?

I have two. One is a taller vase than yours in a typical shape. Flared lip and doesn't have the top piece.

The other is more of a jardiniere.
One has a China stamp. One is unmarked.
I'm assuming the unmarked one is earlier.

I don't think mine are bronze. I believe both of mine are brass.
I think yours might be brass as well.

The more I look at the neck on yours, the more I'm thinking it might be newer.
Both of mine are fairly thick at the lip. At least an 1/8th of an inch.

Mine is roughly a 1/8 inch at the lip. It's a solid piece for its size. Another interesting characteristic about this vase. I'm not sure on the correct terminology. But it's almost as if it was spun on a potters wheel. Theres a circular motion that goes around the shoulder of the vase.

Well it probably was spun tube, look up metal spinning.
