Antique Basket Or Purse,Storage Find

    This is another storage find.This large beautiful item appears to be a purse but also could be an old basket,measure 12"x15",straps 14".Any idea SAM_8530.JPG SAM_8531.JPG SAM_8532.JPG SAM_8533.JPG SAM_8534.JPG SAM_8535.JPG ea what this is.

    Made in Africa, Kenya to be specific.

    Not exactly "antique." A popular item in the 1970s. At least in the U.S. nearly every one had to have one. And they're still being imported, but in a slightly different style.

    They started being imported in the 60s snd 70s. Craft Caravan in NYC was the first I knew had them. I bought one in 1974 when I moved there.
