Antique Barrel

    I have a very old barrel with markings I cannot read and an image of a boy running with a tea pot.

    I'm looking to see if any one knows anything about this and what is was used for/antique value.

    I'm not sure it is antique, but here it is:

    The top was added later by my grandfather, but other than that it's untouched.

    It has to be old it's been in our family for many decades.

    You can't see the top to well in this photo but whatever the original one was is gone.

    I wonder how to date it...could it be from the 1800's?

    You should be able to date it by the logo. The company was in business from 1828 but that's a san serif type face and probably much later.

    Earliest date 1889 when Von Houten's entered the US market.
