    Hey folks!

    Haven't posted anything in almost 20 hours :) :)

Another thrift store find. Only few bucks, so probably not even worth putting it here, but I like stuff like this. I collect older carafes and decanters, so this one looks great in my collection.
I found few online as Italian wine carafes, but not 100% sure this one is as well. No marks or anything. Looks fancy and old.
Any ideas when it was made and where? Is it pressed glass and brass?

Height near the handle approx. 34 cm (13 inches).

    Thanks so much again!
    Erik

Yes - pressed glass and brass. Pretty enough but not spectacular. ;)

And don't worry about posting that's probably not pricey. We need to see those anyway to learn about the full range of things for sale.:)

Looks like a wine carafe to me. We call these wine container things carafes in the United States, Matahari. Ewer is not incorrect per se, but not often used.

Karaf overhere in the Netherlands, so I'm fine with carafe.
I'm also fine with decanter, since a carafe is used to decant wine.;)

Yes it's fine to show it for any sort of comparison, however if you want questions answered about it, I suggest you start a new thread.. It won't be as widely seen otherwise..

aiguillere is not common in french either, but it is not the same as a carafe or a decanter ( as google will show you )

Ewer has a base, a handle and a wide serving opening ( frequently a lid too )

NB I'm in Naples airport at the moment

I have not been able to find the cap but I think it is a nice carafe. I would like to know whether the star on the bottom is a mark and whether it is a vintage carafe from the 1950s, for example, or a much later one. and what do you call such a handle with curls. does this style have a special name? 20211215_181451_copy_907x1612.jpg 20211215_181510_copy_907x1612.jpg 20211215_181500_copy_907x1612.jpg

So do I. And I think you may be pleasantly surprised when you polish that metal, it looks like it could be silver.
    Look for marks.:)

And is that a van Gogh next to it?:angelic:

It is a very nice carafe! Thanks for showing it!

Thanks @Erik Aunapuu , for starting this conversation! I've been wondering if "Aunapuu" is a Hawaiian origin name? :)

Uuh, tough question. I think it's Estonian where I am from, but not too common. I think it comes from Õunapuu which translates to apple tree. It would be really cool if it was Hawaiin origin

Thanks! The vowels are arranged in Hawaiian style! ;)
(I think) - In Hawaiian, your name would have 5 syllables! ;)
How many syllables do you use in your pronunciation? :)
