I thought this was just a part of something 'till I looked it up, and no, it is complete! You put a 9/16 socket wrench over the hex drive collar and push in. The hex shaft is then turned by the wrench which in turn turns the internal spline collar. But what's it for? it is about 9" long x 4" wide x 2" high. Marks include T200, Rockwell, Canada, E23, and a long number, perhaps serial no.[IMG]

I found it online too which takes the fun out of it if I post what I found - so I deleted my link. Very interesting though!

    I think you're supposed to use a 14mm socket

Rockwell makes it unlikely to be a vehicle part but maybe during WWII they made such things.
It looks like it could be a throwout bearing but they usually ride over, not into, the splines and those aren't very deep but still...maybe....
Could have some use to the rotation of vehicle rear axles or even holding a transmission to work on it?

    How are those WAGs?

If it doesn't do what I want I'll haul off and belt it with my metric Cresent wrench.

Oh! I just bought a quite old, I think, Cresent wrench.
I'll dig it out and post it soon. :)

With that close ratio bearing tool - looks like a tool to Put in a transmission gear - when I screw mine up from shifting in my 98 Ford Ranger the teeth sound like that!! Very close grinding sound!!
