Featured Another item to ponder, repousse silver jar

Here's another piece I bought recently, mis-identified totally in the saleroom, but what is it exactly?

It is made of silver, 1st half of the 20th century date and repousse worked. It is one piece (doesn't come apart, made in 2 pieces then soldered). There are two sturdy loops, too small to be practical for handling but about right for a leather or canvas strap. Bulbous all the way around, plain base, slightly concave, will sit flat. About 8" tall, heavy for the size, much more silver in it than needed for a decorative piece.

I would had thought is had a purpose and the shape is quite specific, does anyone have a name for it though. Is it a water carrier, perhaps for strapping to an animal? Rim doesn't seem deep enough for a stopper though. Oil jar, seed carrier? Any other ideas? It does come from the region appropriate to the decoration (I won't give the exact location yet in case is stifles ideas).

    Any ideas appreciated...

Sorry, put it in the wrong forum, doh!

No lid or covering, inside the rim isn't finished well enough for a tight fitting lid, any cover would have to be a loose drop in.

OK best answer I have managed to glean is the shape matches a pot for cooking fava beans (not sure if with Chianti and brain though). So probably a decorative representation of this. Anyone want to guess at the origin for a bonus point?

Well found, thank you. It probably is a bean pot then, mine is also Egyptian.
