Another brooch - I think it’s Victorian - but is it glass or amethyst

You need to have it tested, no one can ID a stone like that from just a photo.

It’s also in gold colour and there are no hallmarks so it looks to be brass? I tried to reverse search and cannot find anything that looks like it.

Many of our helpful members may not be familiar with the size of a 1 pound coin.

Apologies. A £1 coin is approximately 2.25cm in diameter.

The brooch has greenies. That generally means costume, but it can also come off of copper solder.

Lovely brooch and nice detail on the links of the chain surround.
19th Century, ca 1860 imo. Whether Victorian or not depends on where it was made.
Not all antique gold is marked. I don't see any other metal showing through, so I live in hope.:playful:

And I agree with the others, we can't tell if it is amethyst or amethyst glass from a photograph.
If you look at the stone through a loupe, do you see tiny bubbles? If so, it is glass. If not, have it tested.

This is the side of the brooch....which makes me think it is plated in gold or even rolled gold IMG_3285.jpeg

Rish, am I right in thinking there is some silver(tone) showing in the part I circled?
