I bought them in South Carolina from an antiques store, but unfortunately have no history about the pair. I have not seen similar. My naive thoughts are Flemish or Swiss inspired?

Forgive me if I'm stating the obvious but... The figures are Medieval-inspired and the bases are Gothic in design.

Think they are late 19th or early 20th century Gothic/Spanish revival pieces.

I doubt you could have bought anything new that was half as cool for twice the price. I’ve seen andirons marked where I’ve indicated in the above image; take a brush to it and maybe you will get lucky!
