The pagoda one, I didn't realise was till I got it home. Very pleasing.

I love those pagoda stones! The blue ones are harder to find. That iris glass pin too.

I honestly didn’t spot the pagoda, just saw the blue and grabbed it. A friend has snarfed the iris, I’m keeping pagoda. Not a nibble on the glass.

The indicators are a whole list of things, but in this case the brooch with the horseshoes on either end is Victorian.
The style is typical of the last decades of the 19th century.
The clasp is also 19th century, it has the combination of a tube hinge and a C-clasp.
The paste 'stones' are typical of the 19th century.

If you want to know more about recognizing period jewellery, why not study the threads in the Jewelry forum, there is a lot of information there.

Yup, the horseshoe is the oldest and almost certainly silver, despite the lack of markings. Pagoda and the others, I’d think fifties.

That last one might be Halley's Comet pin. Looks like it.

That’s a thought that hadn’t occurred to me and should have!

The Iris glass is a really nice one!. So clear and sparkly. I’ve got a few but they are a little jaded! Is that a comet too?

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Like KSW, I am a fan of the Iris glass brooch. Very strong and bright colours!
To me it also looks like a comet with the tail.
    OBB, superb!
