    Bought nearly 30 years ago in NE Scotland. It is the English translation of the laws of Scotland, printed at Edinburgh by Thomas Finlason in 1608. The first pages have been repaired, many years ago.Leather bound, 10.5 inches by 7 inches. It is "Regiam majestatem. The laws of King Malcolme Mackenneth Second of that name"I love the beginning "King Malcolme gave and distributed his lands of the Realm of Scotland amongst his men and reserved nothing in properties to himself but the Royal dignitie and the Mute hill in the town of scone" It is fascinating to dip into occasionally, open it at random and just read some of the laws, and there are lots of them.

    It seems to get a lot easier once you are past the beginning;

    I guess you must fall into the style and age of the letters while reading......

    You might be interested to know that Newcastle upon Tyne was once part of Scotland and also, as per Scottish custom, wherever the parliament met, it was the capital.

    If anyone would like to see random pages with some of the laws, it can be done.

    Fid and Ex, am posting some random pages. It is a very comprehensive book covering all aspects of life. I believe that somewhere it says if you rape a nun you have to pay hefty copmpensation to her convent. Some green laws also to protect the environment.You will have to enlarge some of the pages. Note golf is mentioned.
