Probably for the cultural contexts.... not my favorite film though. I spent the vast majority of my life having never seen it myself.

No-- you're supposed to start the movie at the exact same time you start side 1 of Dark Side of the Moon. Run them simultaneously and they synchronize, or something. Being high may actually help.

not the trees...or flying monkeys ??

The monkeys were the worst for a kid!! And the green guards!!

I couldn't believe the shoe # mismatch, either. And, that a pair is in the Smithsonian!

My mom said that when she was a kid and watched it in the theater after it first came out, the scene where the witch's legs curl up after the house landed on her was the part that scared her the most.
For me, it was the hourglass scene. The flying monkeys didn't bother me. I thought they were kind of cool.

I am happy for the owner that the shoes are back where they belong, but.... I didn't realize I have been asleep for 15 yrs.:jawdrop:
So it is 2039 and Judy Garland's shoes are now antique?
I have seen the movie, but can't remember much of it, if anything.:shame:

I only found this out last year .... for what it's worth shrug.gif

The allegory begins with the title. Oz is the abbreviation for ounce, the standard measure used for gold.
Dorothy represents Everyman; the Tin Woodman is the industrial worker, the Scarecrow is the farmer, the
Cowardly Lion is William Jennings Bryan, the Wizard is the President, the munchkins are the "little people"
and the Yellow Brick Road is the gold standard. Toto probably represents a dog

    and
