Got this spoon in a lot at auction. From a very high end silver collectors estate. It’s pretty rough but I’d like to ID it still. The maker I can find that makes the most sense is James Reed or his son James R Reed working in Washington and Pittsburgh PA respectively. The father and son had a joint venture James R Reed & Co.. I can’t find evidence of this mark anywhere though. I’d think it would be an earlier mark if it belonged to their joint venture as their later mark this definitely isn’t. I checked some usual sources and my Flynt & Fales book. I believe the serrated marks are usually first half of 19th century. The shape also I believe is usually from that era? Is there a term for the shape of the upper handle? Figured I would check here… 76CE5788-7C64-4897-9518-C721C6A00C5D.jpeg 4A45406F-77FE-4429-B8EE-D0F4EC9B86B4.jpeg 0D86AF9E-4C88-4B54-BA4D-55D5A4DB0ADA.jpeg

But I can't find this Reed family in any of the sources I checked either.

Here’s where I bumped into it. I want to say it was in F&F too. One of the & Co. pieces is listed on eBay.
