24F8E871-F1D5-47C8-B517-606368696499.jpeg Hi, having retired I’m looking forward to spending more time buying and selling collectables. I’ve been collecting for many years and have some bits that have been passed down to me. Thanks for letting me join and I look forward to receiving help and giving where I can. First question. Can anyone identify this makers mark? A cute afternoon tea set. Not much value to the set I don’t think, but great sentimental value. Thank you.

Hello @Jane3405 & welcome to the forum!!:happy:

Would you please post a photo of the whole piece & give us some measurements, please? Also, a photo of a cup & the teapot would be great. They will show the style & pattern if any.

Imho the pieces were made in China for import to a European country. The crown mark may be the importers mark.

"Foreign" usually appears on German items after WW1 and both German and Japanese after WW2. Unusual to see it with a CHINA mark.

Could the word China be referring to the object rather than the country?

I saw a Germany / Bavaria company's mark that had a similar "L" mark but it did not have the crown.

It’s old - belonged to my grandparents so I’m guessing 1920/30’s.

I'd think China means the composition, not country. Mark does look German, as does the set.

You maybe already know this but the finish on this is referred to as "pearl lustre".

    Hi Jane and welcome!

Your mark looks a lot like this one shown in Rontgen's book of marks as Schneider. I didn't research to find out if they made things like yours
    or not.
