~ Aluminum Shell Holders? ~

    Everyone puzzled over these at the auction. No numbers or markings whatsoever. One young man said they were 'holders for mortar shells, like in a tank." He said the shell rested on that knob in the bottom.

    High-strength aluminum. The little latches can only be hooked from the inside.

    Ideas, anyone?

    Not for military ammo of any kind IMO. In fact I kinda doubt they are for military use at all despite the fact that they seem to be painted O.D. The little latches are uncharacteristic of anything the US military would use in the field. So unless they are GI Joe miniature bass boats, IHNI.
