I am mesmerized by the eyes. Just picked this up today and to be honest I didn't know what I was getting. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it. I haven't really been able to stop looking at it. The artist is apparently a well known portrait artist out of New York. I have found several of his other paintings and some information about him online. This one is a little different than some of the others I have seen, it is on a stretched burlap canvas.

Nice. Am on my phone, but doesn't really look like burlap - are you sure it isn't the raw linen this artist typically used for his portraits?

You may be right about that. The client called it burlap but looking at some pictures of raw linen I think you are right.

The resemblance is astounding. If it isn't her... She had a doppleganger. The client said they purchased it around 40 years ago which would put the timeline for the purchase somewhere around 1974.

I think there is a very good possibility that this may be the match.

    Hi,
What most people did not know about her was: She had a wonderful operatic soprano voice. She should have done opera.
