Featured Age on belt buckle I think

Hi all any ideas on age of this buckle well i think its a buckle for ladies only plated no marks but really detailed. Thanks chris

As for age of the object, since just about everything made in the past is being or has been reproduced, the style doesn’t tell you anything for sure. There’s little or no patina and it looks like object is unplated. Might have some kind of coating, can’t tell. I am sure it isn’t antique and probably isn’t vintage either so that leaves us with “modern.” On this kind of nameless object I don’t think it makes any difference to guess whether it is 1970’s or 2017 after we decide it is modern.

 

I agree with Spring. 1970s at the earliest. More likely later.

Agree, fairly recent, silver tone base metal, no silverplating.

 

I'm going to throw out the idea of a sash buckle again. They seem often not to have been fine jewellery, but they are also a type of item that has not been in much demand for a long time now, so maybe not silver, but quite possibly with some age:
