Age and anything else about antique(?) bed bench

I found this at the local thrift store - the manager said it was a bed bench? But when I did a image search I didn't see any that looked like this one?
I believe it's old-er because the screws are the old slot type not the phillips you see in new pieces.
I'm pretty sure it's been reupholstered because of the style of the upholstery and the bottom cover looks new.
It also has beautiful grained wood!
Any thoughts or info would be appreciated.

Ok - I thought the other (especially the size) would be a vanity bench.

You didn't provide dimensions but... Vanity benches can be smaller or larger.

Another possibility for use is as a bench at the end of the bed, where you (actually usually a man) could sit on to put on his shoes.
