Has a tube hinge & c clasp. The setting reminds me of some mourning pins I've seen (the round setting with the twisted wire detail).

    Would this be moss agate?

Not moss agate which is very distinctive, but some form of agate probably.

Thank AF & cluttered. I was wondering about banded agate as well. I know it doesn't look so much like moss agate, but that little dark area had me wondering.

Not what I'd call banded, either. It lust looks like a filled void in the rock.

This might be called a scenic agate.

That's one I hadn't heard before. Thanks for the lead, starsbarking.

I think it's banded agate that has been through some violent geological process so that what af says is true and the dark matter is some non-agate inclusion.

Scenic/landscape agate was just recently discussed in another thread.
