Here are the ones I was referring to. The string instrument and the box instrument and the reef rattle. Having taken a second look at the reefs I think this might be some type of chest ceremonial piece for dancing. I have a duffle bag of wood sculptures some very old looking that was a part of this collection 20190701_102650.jpg 20190701_102715.jpg 20190701_102729.jpg 20190701_102900.jpg 20190701_112540.jpg 20190701_112544.jpg 20190701_112609.jpg 20190701_112624.jpg 20190701_112627.jpg

The box instrument is a thumb piano, a type of instrument known throughout the world; called a kalimba in the Caribbean, and known as a mbira in Zimbabwe.

I thought those were all musical instruments. I believe @anundverkaufen may have landed on the correct identification of your basket. Thanks @all_fakes for the instrument identifications. Much appreciation to you both! :shame::shame:

What about the animal hair string instrument ( I keep wanting to call it a violin ) I was told that it had a very unusual sound. Does anyone recognize that instrument?

I'm not sure about the animal-hair instrument; it would have been bowed, like a violin; and the name would depend on the culture it was from. In China it would be an Erhu, or two-string Chinese violin; but there are similar instruments known under different names in nearby cultures.
