No souvenir. Decorative signage for your family room.

I bought one on a different subject for my sister about 10 years ago.

Why there is a price in Deutsche Marks?

Because it came from Germany? You could just as easily ask why the extension of that price is in US dollars, but the tail of the plane is sporting a Union Jack from the UK. I don't know.

    Hi,
Looks like it was made for the Canada market.

Interestingly, the company is British: http://companycheck.co.uk/company/02672932 . I think they imported Dold clocks for resale.

Albeit, this was made for sale in the German market as well - MWST is the German equivalent of VAT in the UK. Predates the Euro, so it's what, twenty years old maybe?

Bet someone bought it on a cruise ship.

You have a sticker that says "Black Forest Clock Factory" on a mass produced sign that you can see in any chain restaurant like Chilis or TGIF. I think that sticker was put on by someone and had nothing to do with the sign.

I don't agree Bev - the sticker says Avion Hilton as well. Have a look at the design on the front. ;)

I've seen so many signs like that in restaurants here. It indeed says Avion Hilton. Do you have Hilton Hotels in England?

It says "registred" which is not the American spelling

Avion means airplane, which is on the front of the thing. ;) As is Hilton!

Avion Hilton means Hilton's Airplane in French. This UK company was importing the signs, probably from China, slapping the bar codes on and flogging them off to some market in the former DM zone which also sold to the US dollar market. Said company also did cuckoo clocks. Germany entered the eurozone in 1999. the exchange rate to the dollar is about right for then.

davey, your site is someone else selling these on, I think.

If you Google "Country Corner" and then click images there are numerous spread all over the site all of similar design and nearly all sold by French outlets, there is even a picture of the "Registred Design" with the same spelling.
