One book in my collection is in good state for it's age, it only lacks the leather of the binding, so I call it my naked book. That makes it great to show how 16th century books were bound. That is why I don't want the book to be restored. The book has the title: Opera d. Ioannis Chrysostomi (All the works of Saint John Crysostom), printed in 1539 by Johann Herwagen in Basel (Switzerland).
Sometimes in old libraries books were places backwards on the shelves. That is why the title of this book is written on the so called fore-edge. This is a very interesting article about fore-edges: https://www.tcd.ie/library/epb/blog/the-fascination-of-fore-edges/
