ABSTRACT? PAINTING SIGNED STEIN - SAME AS ART FORGER?

I found this at a local thrift store today with some other cool art (like a hand signed Francisco Rodon poster!) & when I googled Stein artist a name came up whose art sorta looks like mine - he forged other famous artist's works? (His own works bring a lot of money on eBay!)
Is this the same Stein? If not, is it by a known Stein (artist?)
PS - The signature is Stein even though it doesn't look like it; there were 2 of his works there but I only had enough money left to buy one - this one looks better but the other's signature is better!

That signature does not look like it says Stein. More like Shai...

 

I agree with Bakers. No way that 2nd letter is a "t" . I googled "Shai-artist " and there were a few that were middle eastern . Maybe ?

 

Could well be a student piece. A study in volumes.

After all the paintings you've bought.....even for cheap....I was hoping your eye would become more critical.....
I still hope your home run....is a home run......but not this one.

 

Looks like a pastel on textured paper, not a painting, JMHO
