It's really a damn shame I have only this one...the pair would command some serious attention on eBay. ~8" tall, 6 1/2" wide, 2" deep at the top; it weighs 17 1/4 oz. It has to be one of the finest pieces of western saddle-makers craft ever to come under my nose. I have an old friend in Texas who collects an' displays antique an' vintage western gear, an' he'll get this soon for his man-cave.
What may appear to be a repair at the boot-arch isn't; it is a wear-patch that covers a portion of the laced leather covering, but beneath it there is no lacing, as there is elsewhere. Note the way the top (open) ends are well-tucked into the wrapping; also how the riveted wear-strap over the bar is made so that strap cannot rotate fully. Whoever crafted these was well-versed in the needs of the rider they were made for.
This post is mainly a show-n-tell...but your observations an' comments are welcome. Thanks for lookin'!
