20th would not surprise me. But there is no "rose" in the palette so you're going to have to call it something else than "famille rose."

You could do that. But I would call it colorful. :)

    From wikipedia.org

"... a group of 'families', or palettes of enamel colours used on Chinese porcelain. These are commonly known by their French names of famille jaune, noire, rose, verte, based on the dominant element in each colour palette are terms used to classify."

    Famille verte
(康熙五彩, Kangxi wucai, also 素三彩, susancai, lit. ‘three colours on a plain [unglazed or thinly glazed] body’), adopted in the Kangxi period (1661–1722), uses green and iron red with other overglaze colours.

It is Famille Verte, which is simply a French name for Chinese porcelain with green as the dominant overglaze colour in the decoration. The Europeans didn't have a clue about Chinese terminology, they used their own terms.;)

There are different 'Familles' for the different dominant overglaze enamel colours. The ones which haven't been mentioned yet are Famille Jaune (yellow) and Famille Noir (black)

In other words... famille verte means "lots of green."
