This little doll/figurine was part of my Mom's collection. I have no idea where to start to try to ID this one. It appears to some type of ceramic material for the head and feet. The clothes seems to be made of silk but not sure. He looks pretty old! He stands 2 1/2" tall. Any ideas where this little guy may have been made or the age? Thaks so much in advance! little man 3.jpg little man 1.jpg little man 2.jpg

    Hi Steve!

He appears to be a home made doll. The cracking of the head and hat makes me think they are made of some kind of composition rather than of ceramics.

I firstly thought that the face was celluloid. The hands could be celluloid, but the pictures aren't clear enough to be sure.

Thank you Judy, any thoughts on where it may have come from? Almost looks Eastern European or Russian

Doll is sweet. Wonder if he's meant to be a little chimney sweep.

Good suggestion Debora. I just googled chimney sweep dolls and hundreds came up! None that looked too much like mine but but it does look like your picture. Thanks much!

He's a little working man of some kind, in that overall.

Oh, and to state the obvious... The top hat is the traditional head gear of a sweep. (To my eye, that does appear to be a top hat; others may disagree.)

    Hi Steve!

Your dalahest appears to have a bit of age judging on how it's carved.

I own about 35 of them in many sizes.

I visited one of the factories many years ago on my first trip to Sweden.

They are mass produced today. They come in traditional colors of blue, white, black and the orangey red.

Some crafty artisans have made them in many forms, and the image appears on just about anything you can imagine.

    Can you post your sale?

Hi Judy, I have it listed on ebay 184339840643. My store is Age Well Antiques. Quite honestly, I jacked the price up after seeing your information so feel free to make an offer if interested. Thanks again!

Thank you Steve. I'll check it out. I'm more curious to see how it fairs if others think it's older too.

Lord knows I really don't need to add the number to 36!:cat::cat::cat:

On your doll, can you show a close up and side view of the shoes, please?

Thank you for the extra photos. It was unclear to me if the shoes might be pointed. But they don’t appear to be.
