Featured A jewel of a minature watch.

This is a run of the mill Swiss movement, just very small and somewhat boosted in value by the pretty case. The case is silver gilt.

You can see the size by comparison with the nickel beside it.




and inside it is working nicely.

Very pretty! Looks like seed pearls in the perimeter?

 

They do appear to be individually set half seed pearls.

Is the back painting under glass? I can't quite make out it's composition.

 

I don't think that I have ever seen one of those nickels in person. Is it the same size as the current U.S. nickel?

The back is guilloche enamel and that's a today sized nickel.

The shed is well locked, but unhappily the friend who runs an auction house (British members may have seen him on 'Flog It' and 'Bargain Hunt') caught a cricket ball with his eye over the weekend, rather badly it seems, and he will be out of action for a while so the sending stuff to auction process is stalled for a couple of weeks. Still, no hurry, and summer is not a good time to sell stuff.

Ouch, that sounds nasty. I've been watching Bargain Hunt lately on YouTube and particularly enjoy watching the auctions.
