Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I have a few books to give away -- they are listed below. Please reply to this post if you are interested in one or more, and let me know which one(s) you are interested in. I will do a drawing to decide who gets any book that more than one person says they would like. I'll leave this up until next Saturday, July 2.

I decided not to ask for postal reimbursement, which means I'll ship them in the least expensive way that I can.

    The list:

    1) Art and Visual Perception: A Psychology of the Creative Eye / The New Version by Rudolf Arnheim. University of California Press, copyright 1954 and 1974. This is a trade paperback, 508 pp. A blank leaf in the front was torn out.

    2) Stars Falling on Alabama / Cappy Thompson Glass, Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts -- This is from an exhibit in 2006. It includes an essay about Seattle artist Cappy Thompson and many examples of her work. She did a nice window in the Montgomery Museum, which was fairly new at the time. This is a 15-page booklet --

    3) Pieter Bruegel the Elder / Text by Wolfgang Stechow. Published in 1990 by Harry N. Abrams, NY. -- A concise version of Stechow's book on Bruegel that was originally published in 1970. This book is oversized and printed on coated paper, so is heavier than its 125 pages would normally indicate. Hardbound.

All of these can go media mail.

I figured that... as long as I don't write a note in it, right? Or does that rule not apply any more?

Well, nobody has expressed an interest, so... I will find another place for these books.

    Does your library sell books?

I believe that we have recently stopped selling books. Too much staff time spent for too little return. However, I think the Friends of the public library still have a book shop. I will look into that.

My library does. They have many for 10 and 25 cents.

One library I know of solved the labor cost issue by simply putting unwanted books on a "free" rack right at the exit door. They put them there as-found so they are put there at random times and no patron can hog them unless he/she wants to spend all day waiting (no one does.)

Since mine is 2 blocks from GW they probably give the unsold media, books and mags to them.
I usually buy a few $ worth of 10cent ones and put them in the 3 'lending' libraries near me. Rarely do I find something I want from there but so what.
