A couple of my necklaces

I guess I’ll start with my necklaces first. Chances are, neither of these are all that old. But what do you think? When do you believe they were made?

This one fits more like a choker than a regular necklace and came with matching earrings. I’m not sure if you can tell, but the amber beads actually have a bumpy, crackled type texture. And they kind of look like they have foil on the inside.

This other necklace is around 16 inches long. Almost certain the amethyst is glass. No scratches or scuffs, though.

The pendant looks circular here, but it’s actually oval shaped. I had to resize the photos because the originals were too big. Unfortunately, this may have messed with the quality. My apologies.:( No makers mark. Or at least I don’t think so? There are these two little marks on the side of the pendant that look like hearts. But I don’t know if that’s intentional or just a couple of blemishes. What do you think?

    Welcome to the Forum!
Is it possible to get a better photo of the last photo, please? Maybe through a loupe or magnifier? Thanks

A little better, but I still can't make it out. I think those are your marks. If you can see them, maybe you could draw what you see?

I’m not sure if drawing them would make it easier. They just look like two little heart shaped indents in the metal. The metal around the indents looks slightly warped?

The jump ring on the 2nd necklace looks flat, perhaps there is a mark stamped on it on the underside that we are not seeing?

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

@GemmaDaisy, Was able to enhance, sharpen and add some contrast, as well as increase size 2X....The marks inside the 2 hearts, look to possibly be identical or close to it... the small lettering I wasn't sure about........

It is flat. But it’s also extremely thin. There isn’t a whole lot of room to add any noticeable marks. At best it just looks like the metal ring is somewhat……melted?

This is helpful, thank you! I feel like the hearts are too small to have lettering on the inside. My photos might make things seem a little bigger than they actually are. Maybe the marks were created using an imperfect stamp, and it created that effect. I think I’ll come back to this tomorrow. Maybe I can take better pictures in the sunlight! :joyful:

I'd be betting on Japanese glass (assembled who-knows-where) for the first. The second looks like it ought to have gold marks.

Those are marks, partly hidden by the loop.

Could be. It is a quality pendant, a special design and a millegriffe setting.

I swear, I have looked all over this necklace. Aside from the hearts on the side of the pendant and the stamps (?) on the jump ring. There are no letter or numbers. And can’t even tell if the marks on jump ring are supposed to be anything distinguishable. Maybe more hearts? I genuinely can’t tell, no matter how closely I look at it.

I admit, I’m only guessing that it’s glass. I bought this necklace from an antique store in my town a couple years back. It was really cheap. $8 or less. They had it stored in a tiny plastic zip bag on one of those spinning display racks. Usually anything they put on those racks is cheap. Anything they thought was actually valuable was locked behind a glass case. So when it came to the necklace, I assumed they knew what they had. I honestly feel they would have charged more for it, otherwise.

Take it to someone who can test it, I amy be wrong but I wonder if it is gold and amethyst.

Your outlook on that will change after reading any 100 pages of our FINDS thread.
We find what the dealers , sellers, 2nd hand , and goodwill stores miss.

From here , yer pendant looks to be gold, with a gold chain..... & we encounter even smaller stamps than you see here........ so it helps to know what to look for.
Costume jewelry...... don't have stamping like this........ imo.
