found these in a house clearance shop, 3 pairs in an old spectacles box

2 are marked 12Kt GF gold filled

these test as 9ct or above (not marked), only tested them as they look like gold, still surprised though, didn't think there was such a thing as gold glasses !!

Very interesting, the 12ct gold filled ones passed the acid test as well, so guess they probably are filled

Has made me question the acid test alltogether !!

You just didn't scratch enough to get to the base metal core.

Many of the pince nez spectacles are solid gold. I found a pair, solid 18k with French marks, bought for $28 and sold for $600. Probably get twice that now.

I think the case is the clue to that pair mate !!! ;)

But saying that, if you looked at the glasses themselves you wouldn't necessarily think 18ct gold !!

I’ve got several pairs and they are all gold filled.I live in hope of finding solid gold ones but the GF ones still sell quite well.

I came across an old Benjamin Franklin style pair of spectacles. They were not marked but xlr'd at 9kt, acid tested at 9Kt and there was a damaged area at the screw that gouged out about half the metal thickness and they were clearly solid gold as my gold buyer would attest :)

Sometimes you just never know on the antique bits.
