Featured 800 Silver Miniature Cherub Carving a Portrait

    Measures only about 3 inches tall. Marked 800 silver on the back. Looks like a cherub dude carving a bust of some other dude. Why was this made? Doll furniture? THANKS for any info!

    And what looks like the imperial crown mark. If so, German, 1888 or later.

    The bust in progress looks to me like a natural material other than bone.

    I don't know what was in the designer's mind, but this could be seen as Cupid/Eros chiseling an effigy of himself, or as a Genius of the Arts/Sculpture along these lines:

    Although the group above are wingless, it is more usual for them to have wings, and some artists identified them as cupids.
