    Hi friends,

I’m new here and probably posting this in the wrong area. Please let me know if so!

I recently purchased a metal basket from an antique store to use as a vessel for a floral arrangement. While polishing it up, I noticed a 750 mark which is typically associated with gold as far as I know. Does anyone have any info on why this mark might be on a silver dish? Thanks in advance!

PS the upload option is giving me an error and won’t let me upload pictures. Suggestions?

Fairly sure you do see it on silver from certain countries. Others who know will come along in time.

750 silver corresponds to 12 Lot (also Loth) in the old German system prior to appr. the 1850s. afterwards it was more and more replaced by the French system in thousands till it was completely replaced in 1888 by law.
PS. everything below 800 was for people that weren't born with a silver spoon...
