    Hello to all of you.....Got this double oil painting for 50 box..!!! Still lifes...Flowers and Nude..... PD1.jpg PD1.jpg PD2.jpg PD3.jpg PD4.jpg PD5.jpg PD6.jpg
Found it original and very decorative...Not too new for sure...???The manner is quite impressionist ,colors interesting, thick brushstroke....For sure copied from a master painter..????Or who knows an original...Dimensions are 73x41cm for the canvas.
Only thing ,I have just noticed...Is that on the right down corner seems to have been a sign or a signature which has been removed or eliminated...Not 100% sure.
I remember, long time ago a colleague of yours had been able to read inside painting layer with succes....
So I dont expect any miracle on this painting...But your Expertise,Advise and knowledge might bring a little plus to this double dekker.....
As always thanking you in advance.

If you haven't done so already, do a Google Lens search of both to see if copies of known works.

I can see why the painter turned the canvas around.

Let's just say the front is better than the back.;)

Still life is more successful than the portrait, but she's got some charm. I like the bright, quick outline. She's not nude...has a little sweetheart mini dress on.

Maybe it was Matisse Girlfiend on Valentine day...!!!!!

Certainly not. But a rather unfortunate choice of dress colour. Ah well, she's on the back.
Given the period, it is more likely Matisse's girlfiend's granddaughter.;) And maybe on a warm summer day rather than Valentine's day?

This does not look like the face of a wife who took kindly to girlfriends... :hilarious: Lydia was brunette too though.

Agree with you....Happened quite often for many Top Painters to escape the sadness and lack of freedom ...Avoiding sad melancolie home by escaping....To Tahiti..Aix en Provence..Nice...Antibes..Paris..Where ever else.....And feel so much more creative...And productive...

Aah and how did the wives get to escape I wonder? :joyful: At least Amelie got her divorce as soon as she suspected. Being faithful and being creative are two different things entirely. Tahiti....that was a place Gauguin went to act like an actual monster.
