Just one question. well maybe two
The tiny gold plated tag on the clasp reads 22 Kilates for 22K
Chapo de oro for gold plated.
in the middle is the word Uzzy. What is that?
Also any idea of age. the beads are glass black and clear

I found other gold-plated chains items of Uzzy. Believe Uzzy is Uzzy Jewelry & Gift Store in Mexico City (Uzzy Moy Joyas Y Regalos).

This is Uzzy of Mexico City website. Click the bottom row of pics like the cross. Here is an English translation of the site:

Of course none of this proves your Rosary chain is of the same Uzzy.

Looks more like a necklace to me than a rosary.
I've never seen a rosary with a clasp. But then I'm not a good Catholic so WDIK

It is not a rosary, the beads are not arranged in decades (groups of 10)

It may have started out as one though. I've been known to make jewelry out of busted rosaries, and someone else could have done the same. Take a clasp from a busted necklace, beads from a damaged rosary and... necklace. The hardware and beads are screaming early to mid-80s at me.

If you only count the larger black & clear beads, there are 5 decades with large beads in the middle - until you get to the 'broken' decade in the back where the clasp is. Using rosaries as necklaces is very hip in some places.

Question, what is the significance of the 9 dots, stars, around her halo? I have a seen a few similar, but definitely not the same, open-work center medals of Mary with 12 stars, dots, in her halo. I can understand 12 for the 12 apostles, but 9 seems an odd number. Here are a couple:

Here is one with her praying hands:

As this was made by a Mexican house, I thought the medal might be Mexican related like Our Lady of Guadalupe. The L of G is usually portrayed standing wearing a crown so not her. Here is a chain with medal done by Uzzy I found on line. Not like this one for no beads. This one, found by a metal detecting junkie, is reported on a metal detector forum:

I thought this wasn't right for a Catholic rosary, but as I'm not Catholic, I wasn't sure. As the cross doesn't appear to have Jesus on it I thought possibly a Protestant related set of beads. Protestants churches tend to display a plain cross. I then thought possibly an Anglican rosary. I think these were more or less developed in the 1980s. Again, not right for one of those.

My, what a collection! Did find out the 12 star halo around Mary is equating her to the Woman of the Apocalypse. Book of Revelation, 12:1-18.

"12:1 A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. 2 It was with child and wailed aloud in pain as she labored to give birth. 3 Then another sign appeared in the sky; it was a huge red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and on its heads were seven diadems. 4 Its tail swept away a third of the stars in the sky and hurled them down to the earth. Then the dragon stood before the woman about to give birth, to devour her child when she gave birth. 5 She gave birth to a son, a male child, destined to rule all the nations with an iron rod. Her child was caught up to God and his throne. 6 The lady herself fled into the desert where she had a place prepared by God, that there she might be taken care of for twelve hundred and sixty days.........." and on to the 18th verse.

I suspect yours having only 9 is from lack of room for more.

They really grew some good stuff in those days..........

Hollywood art directors born thousands of years before their time.

I wonder how many really great tennis players lived and died in the middle ages, unrecognised because their skills just were not needed yet. How many Victorian astronauts?
