2 War helmets

The first helmet im familiar with, i believe its Canadian WW2 but im still looking for more info on it. It says "SHIBLEY" and "STU - Bomb squad" on the bottom sticker. Any idea what this are worth now and where I can get more info?

The second helmet im cluesless, it appears to have previously had around 12 star stickers along the front of it. I marked the last photo with red dots to indicate where the stars appear to have been. Any ideas on country and era?

The second helmet is a British MK.III 1944 pattern 'Turtle' helmet. These were in use until the 1980's.
They were first used during the Normandy landings.

 

Any idea why it would be covered in stars?

 

None at all I am afraid. Is it possible to get a better picture of the stars please?

 

because of how faint the stars are its very difficult to get a better photo

 

The helmet looks to have been badly repainted at some point, and I suspect that the stars were perhaps something to do with a previous owner. The paint runs on the lower areas of the helmet look like a home paint job to me.
The British Army generally doesn't have markings on helmets as they make too good an aiming point for snipers, and remember that these helmets were in use when the troubles started in Northern Ireland. I cannot recall ever seeing one with an markings on it, certainly not on the outside anyway.

 

I just found these markings, i did not notice them before. The 1952 is the turtle helmet, 1943 is the ww2 one.

It certainly does look like a bad paint job, i wonder why someone would do that

 

I believe that FFL is Fisher & Ludlow, who were metal pressing specialists, and who made componenets for the automobile industry (when we still had one!). They were in Castle Bromwich Birmingham. Possibly, they may have had something to do with F.Fisher & Sons, who made bayonet parts for the British Mk.II* 'spike' bayonets during the war.

VMC is the Viceroy Manufacturing Co. of Toronto, Canada, who made helmet liners from 1940 to 1945.

Regarding the stars on the MK.III helmet, if the stars were original, I certainly do not believe that it was used by British forces. Possibly Canadian or another Commonwealth nation perhaps?
