2 Pastels Portraits Sintra and Other Signed Tom Morris 1966

Saw those at the local antique mall but could not find anything on the artist and something makes me think they are not of significant value.
I guess made after photographs rather in person.
Any thoughts?

Martin, Gila? If that's supposed to be Dean Martin it's a pretty poor likeness IMHO.

I'd say the painter...with some talent....liked to picture himself with famous people.
I wouldn't put any value on these unless I were his wife or kids !

 

I'm wondering if the other person with Frank and Dean could be Duane Eddy.

 

Sorry. Yes that is Dean in the second picture. I thought you were talking about the "Unknown" with Frank (since that's what Kard asked.)

 

I guess the unknown is Tom Morris as Komokwa pointed out.

 

I believe the unknown guy is another celebrity from the time, but I can't remember his name.

 

Mr. Unknown might possibly be Wayne Newton.

The guy in the second picture looks a bit like Bobby Darin, but the one in the first photo doesn't. The hair's so similar in both paintings that I think they're the same guy, so think that rules out Darin.

 

The only name I came up with for that other guy with is Vic Damone -- but looking at photos of him, not sure that it's him. I do think he looks familiar, though.

 

The mystery figure is probably Bobby Darin of "Mack The Knife" fame.

 

And for some unknown reason, Mario Lanza popped into my beanie....Google image..

 

Could be Vic - sure isn't Wayne Newton - that man has always been unattractive - even before all the face lifts.

That "hair-do" really has me going.
All I can think of is jerry Lee Lewis when I see it.

 

Depending upon how accurate the portrait was, a few other possibilities could be Eddy Fisher, Tom Jones, and Frankie Vaughan. None seem to be the person I'm vaguely remembering, though.

As I said previously, I think the guy in the second painting does look like Bobby Darin, but not the one in the first painting.

 

Aquitaine's Mario Lanza suggestion has a lot going for it.

 

Well, it could be Lanza...he's close....but then for sure it's Frank & Dino...& in both paintings that other guy is the main focus....& we're all taking pot shots at whom it could be !
If one painting was just Frank & Dean...I'd say it would sell quick.....as it is the painter thought more of the unknown guy......

 

Mario's hair style and hair line fits the best.
