Hi all, I have a couple of soapstone carvings I need help with.
    any info in appreciated
    thanks for looking:)
#1 is 4" tall, signed on the bottom 'Frank' (I think). I couldn't find anything on-line, hoping someone might know info on them. Any idea on age? I like this one, notice the boot laces:)

#2 is 9" tall and very heavy. No signature, lots of wear on the base. He is kneeling, with a pack in front of him? Any idea on age?

the 1st is not any Inuit I know of , and I'd suggest Alaska or Greenland....

the 2nd is too generic to suggest an artist, but it is Inuit....and I'd guess the 1970's...with a tag that is missing...

I think I have a guy doing something similar as your second carving. I’ve always wondered what it was too. My guess was rolling a piece of stone or ice. Also slightly resembles what another of mine is holding. 15759396-FB61-4752-84A8-9BEDD41E0321.jpeg 069C7053-F245-4378-B754-C397FBDAD659.jpeg D827CCD9-114C-4314-B9AE-94BB3A2F6E57.jpeg 3C778F96-20CE-41A8-9E4C-FCB67336ABD5.jpeg 43B10FF7-4C4B-4A09-8319-7BF5442229D9.jpeg

Thanks cxgirl. I like yours too. I bought most of the lifetime collection of a woman who spent a good deal of time in Inuit villages I’m told. These two came from that collection.

it's nice to get from the source....but it doesn't guarantee quality......and often...no official paperwork !
