Thinking just decorative value for these two (and off to consignment store if yes.)

But thought I'd get a few sets of eyes just in case someone recognizes a maker, etc.

Both approx 2-3" across. First is a pottery hedgehog or similar. Second is a red glass paperweight style ..cat? ...dog, fox?

    Neither signed. Anything look familiar?

We have the sleeping cat in Alexandrite color. I have seen a few with Germany Labels on them. no specific makers name though.

Here is one with the sticker I mentioned!

Edit: this may be an Alexandrite one like ours .Hard to tell for sure, but the last picture looks like the right color, and the description says teal blue. Nice piece for someone who wants a nice piece of Alexandrite at a pretty good price.

Of course the live (in)action model is the best! I couldn't resist! LOL

Love the cute live model! :cat::cat::cat:

Thanks for the ID and link -- of course selling/not buying in theory, but if that is Alexandrite, is a bit tempting!

Not surprising this sleeping cat is German. It seemed so nicely polished and just had a better feel than some glass. A big help, thanks!

One down, one to go! Anyone with thoughts on the hedgehog?

Lucille, I'm 99 percent sure it is alexandrite based on the discription and pics.

I thought maybe German or Scandinavian pottery but couldn't find anything. He is cute though!

Lucille, are there any pottery 'holes' in the hedgehog?

Hello, Patd. No holes or openings.

Cx, was thinking Scandinavian as a possibility as well. Thanks for taking a look. Reminds me of some of the figures that were popular in the 1970s.

My mother collects hedgehogs. They typically come from Germany or UK. I'd guess UK on yours.

Bakers you are correct! I had pulled up images of a porcupine, then a hedgehog, feeling neither was quite right --even googled anteater but the standard one you think of is completely different, so went w/hedgehog.

Well done finding the species! Never heard of it.

Echidna. A keyword if there ever was one!

I had a friend who had a hedgehog for a pet. Although I have not seen it in about 4 years, I was pretty sure it's snout was much shorter than your little guy. ;)
