Jumble sale buy. I think it’s 19th century with its 3 ivory feet and I’m sure I can see 1842 in the writing but can’t make out all of the script. Can you do any of your wizardry please @Aquitaine?
Can make out Emma Allen, Croydon. Made and given to her by a ……………. friend Henry H…
    Any help appreciated, thanks.

    I'm seeing, possibly:

"made and given to her by ... ... kindred friend"

    hmmm, maybe not...

My grandfather tried to teach my siblings and me how to play cribbage but we never took to it. We much preferred shove ha'penny and played that frequently during visits!

I used to know how to play, but it's been 30 years.

I’m sure I can see ‘1842’ directly before possible ‘kindred’ which doesn’t really read but I can sort of see kindred too. Hoping Aquitaine can do some magic.
Never played Cribbage either, I remember mostly old boys in pubs playing. I’m sure I’ve got a board somewhere here from one of the Falklands ships from the 1980s.

I can hear my long departed friend yelling at me "Runs of three or more" "sums of 15" or something like that. I never could get it!

    lloyd249 it's not hoarding if it's valuable

I have been playing it all my life ,after I met my first wife's father he taught me that it's not a game of chance and there is a strategy to it . I used to be happy with a 8 to 10 hand now it's 12 to 20+ hands ,29 is the biggest hand you can get .I have had 28 hand a few times lol ,I have a board that is in the shape of 29 ,the game goes to 121 points a player would have to travel twice around this board .

2 points for every 15 you can make in your hand and using the cut card on top so 15-2 15-4 and so on, 7+ 8 ,6+9 ,5+10 (all face cards are 10) matching the jack with the cut card suit is worth one (that's the 29th point in a perfect hand ) 5, 5, 5, 5 and cut card jack
