I found these 2 pieces Friday at a local thrift store - the sculpture/statue has Austin Prod. Inc. 1981 on it's butt - I know they copied a lot of artist's work; can anyone tell me who this piece is after? (google image search turned up nothing)

The 2nd is a cool print? or Painting? of 4 girls, but I can't make out the artist's signature (Nam Curt?) or the title of it. Can anyone tell who did this piece? (I like it a lot - is it folk art? Looks almost primitive?)

    Thank you for any help!

The second work is entitled "Madrecitas" or "Little Mothers." And, if you look carefully, each figure is holding a child.

Surname looks like "Cruz." I'd look to the Philippines.

Nan Cruz, German- Amerindian artist now living in Guatemala would seem to be your artist.

say_it_slowly The worst prison is a closed heart

The first is sort of Henry Moore-ish.

    THANK YOU!
PS - Do you think it's a print or painting? (No edition number but signed in pencil)?

Isn't that a print number and edition next to "Madrecitas"? 8/79 (or 8/19?)

Appears to be. 19 as artist crosses 7 in European fashion.

It's Nan Cuz (no r) and I'm comfortable with attribution. Some variation with her signature but this a close match. And mother + child a subject she returns to over and over again.

    Nice find, journey.:)
Having been taken away from her mother at a tender age probably has something to do with that.

It is. But at least she had a talent and used it to try and cope with it.
