Found (and bought) this British (right?) artillery shell vase yesterday at a thrift store :)
Can someone tell me more about the meaning of the letters and numbers?

Its British military indicated by the Broad Arrow (War Dept) mark.
Looks like the date is 1943.

Thank you for the confirmation re country and year.
Any idea what the rest (BB/C, Cr/C, and the numbers) means?
I read that the marks include the manufacturer's code and the charge info. Might Cr/C stand for Reduced charge with cordite? And then BB/C being the manufacturer?
It would also have the date of manufactoring, but I see 2 dates. Or is the 1st the date of manufacturing of the shell and the 2nd for the filling?

I don't know what the other markings represent, you will have to look them up on a military shell casing site.
Its now a planished piece of trench art which I suppose could be used as an umbrella stand.

I found a two sites yesterday, and one had that Reduced charge information for CR (not for CR/C), but noting re BB/C. And the other site had a lot of information regarding the marks on the side of the shells, but not much about the bottom.

It would indeed make a nice umbrella stand, but in this case it would have to be cocktail umbrellas, as it's the size of a small vase :)

If its small vase size then its obviously been cut down, 25 pounder shell casings are much longer.

See this pile in Normandy WWII.

Maybe I gave the wrong idea calling it small. And definitelly with that cocktail umbrella comment...
It's 21 cm/8.26" (so it could actually serve as a collapsible umbrella stand!) and that doesn't include the rim.
    And according to this image
    RML_25_pounder_gun_ammunition_diagrams.jpg
that does seem to be around the normal size of the shell (excl. the cap)
