    Plan to have this rematted. It has a copyright for Photographische Gesellschaft. What war would this have been from?

    That's Napoleon of Napleonic wars fame, the third of that name was probably never on a battlefield, the uniforms are wrong, and no-one as far as I know ever celebrated the F-P war in any way.

    Incident of the French Camp
    Robert Browning

    YOU know, we French storm’d Ratisbon:
    A mile or so away
    On a little mound, Napoleon
    Stood on our storming-day;
    With neck out-thrust, you fancy how,
    Legs wide, arms lock’d behind,
    As if to balance the prone brow
    Oppressive with its mind.

    Given that he's looking out over the sea, I'd guess this is a later incident - more Elba-esque.

    No doubt he's quietly humming
    ♫ Somewhere, beyond the sea… ♪

    Thanks, I will look all this up. Will at least get it rematted. Maybe even talk to an auction house.

    Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

    Body build, stance, everything so resembles Napoleon from what we've seen and read!!!! Most definitely worth checking out!!!!

    Napoleon in Egypt? The coastline is very hard to determine.
