I'm trying to figure out the last name of the girl who did this elaborate sampler. I see Rachel and 1880, but not sure of the last name. Looks like C U N O ?? T Y. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks! ... Dave

I agree that the last 2 letters are KY.

More like Rachel Cunow, KY. It's her last name and location.

That's making more sense - thank you. The name sounded too strange otherwise.

Sorry, I thought it was rather obvious :) (How I posted it)

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

It's funny that when she stitched her name, she made the first letter of her first name similar to the R at the top part of the sampler, but she did not do the same with the first letter of her last name. Maybe she was becoming tired?

Cunowsky is a Polish last name. Are you sure it's not that?

The first name is Rachel; if her parents were first generation Poles her name would end in A. Polish girls' names always do as far as I know. Given the age of this, odds are a Polish name would mean a recent arrival.

I just looked at it quick and got Rachel Gunovsky out of it, for whatever my first impression is worth.

To me it looks like there is part of the last word missing at the beginning. The beginning letter has a small 'tail' off to the bottom left. That's odd.
