1876 Centennial Wood Canister, is it really from 1876 Phillidelphia Exhibition?

Got this wood canister years ago, and going through boxes got it out to check the legitimacy of what' on there. There is the 1926 stamp inside but hoping someone added that later. What do you guys think?

    Hi,
It looks like a 1926 souvenir. It also looks like it might have been a 1976 souvenir also.

Sat on a shelf as a reminder, but didn't get used to hold anything?

I see no reason this cannot be from the Columbia event. As long as it was kept from any serious harm, why not?

Mauchline ware, a form of treenware.

I have (or I should say my son has with the intention of giving them to his son when he's older and can appreciate) a boxed set of playing cards that my 2nd GGM brought back to NY from the 1909 Alaska-Yukon Exposition, held in Seattle. Look like they have never been used.

After looking both of those up the Mauchline ware matches it very well

I don't remember any 1976 merch commemorating the Philadelphia Exhibition. Strikes me as an odd thing to do. While not impossible, seems to me that something made for 1976 would be less likely to have a 1926 stamp for the Sesquicentennial Exhibition in it than something from 1876.

From a quick google, it looks (I think) that the 1926 Exposition was held at a different location that the long building on the lid, though I could be wrong. That building it seems was built for the 1876 Exposition.

I did and found lots of things from the exhibition but and I didn' know about Mauchline ware at least what it was called anyway so I didn' see things like this

Somebody added the stamp later, Mauchline ware was pretty much out of production by 1900, but I also thought it wasn’t produced until 1880.
Maybe there’s a Mauchline ware blog out there somewhere with accurate info.

I've seen Mauchlin Ware that looked pristine: people treasured it.

I think the stamp inside had nothing to do with the original piece. Someone just stuck it there.
