1866 Protestant Episcopal Prayer Book

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

Hopefully, the pictures show what's up for give-away. It's a miniature...measures about 4 inches by 2.5. It's in raggedy shape, and MISSING the clasp hinge-thingie. My eBay research tells me that much more pristine (and sometimes more ornate) examples (with clasp complete) are not getting bids at ten bucks or thereabouts.
It has little sentimental value for me... was found by a relative in the basement of an old house in Las Cruces, NM, home of St. James' Episcopal Church. Here's a blurb from St. James' website...
"St. James’ has a lengthy and rich history in the Mesilla Valley, as well as the state of New Mexico. Although records indicate that an Episcopal priest, the Rev. F. O. Barstow, working in Mesilla as early as 1871, was active in the community as a dentist, a priest, and a practicing Protestant; credit is given to the Rt. Rev. William Forbes Adams and the Rev. Henry Forrester as being responsible for the formation of the formal church in 1875."
I have no desire to haggle on eBay over a few dollars... neither would I ever trash it, so....
Anybody want it? If there is more than one volunteer, I'll raffle it, say, on Friday?

You got it. If I don't get to the post office tomorrow it will of course be Monday or thereabouts. :) Thanks for giving the book a good home... it really is a charming tiny thing.
King, you're a prince... I'm glad Greg the Episcopalian will have it after all.

    Hi Gila,
Actually I am a "High Anglican". As we say, more Catholic than Rome. Our churches still have the altars against the wall and mass is said in Old English and Latin. We are more like the Roman Catholics before Pope John 23rd. Our spiritual leader is the Arch Bishop of Canterbury.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

I took the opportunity to learn about the history of your church... Henry #8, high/low Episcopal churches, Methodist-Episcopal, Anglican... Rite 1, Rite 2... Rite 3?/?? Three great liturgical religions... Catholic, Lutheran, Episcopal (some joke Episcopalians are "Catholic Lite", excluding the Anglicans!). I'm even more happy that this little book will rest in good hands.

    Hi Gila,
The book arrived this morning. Thank you so much. The company that printed it was from Philly and I lived for a short time across the street from their offices.
    Thanks again,
    greg
