I inherited this piece from my grandmother who said it's from the 1800s.

The purple color is maybe more of a light coral... There is an engraving on the bottom but it's hard to make out what it is. It may be initials.

Would anyone happen to know anything about it?

    Thanks.

Does the L mean anything to you from your family history?

It does not. That was my first thought as well.

It might be a copy, made as a souvenir of sorts after the President was murdered. I don't think the Lincoln set had initials on it.

seems the Lincoln "Buff" china was researched by the Smithsonian Institution. The manufacturer is not known but the china was imported by the importer China Hall, a company owned by James K. Kerr of Philadelphia. As previously noted, the Lincoln set does not have a monogram or other decorations. This was used for non-state dinners: The design was extremely simple: A white plate, with a buff border edged in gilt lines.

Assuming you do have a matching piece of Buff china, it may be that you have a piece of the same pattern, as the importer likely made it available to the masses.
