1770's silver creamer?

I know practically nothing about silver, but want to know more about this creamer that my now-deceased aunt bought in London in the 1950s. Because it's not been cleaned in 50+years, it's hard to distinguish the mark on the bottom. (I'm also not great taking photos, and anything nearby is reflecting off the silver.)

Inside it was the receipt, with the seller identifying it as being from the 1770s. (See attached images.) I'm curious if anyone recognizes the mark and if it is likely to be from the late 18th century. Also, if anyone has an idea of its possible value, that would interesting to know. Thanks in advance!

Greetings, WaxhawWoman! Really hard to determine that those marks stand for, but I've attached a list of London marks for the date letter cycle that includes 1770. You can click on the date to see what the mark should look like in the wild.

Unfortunately, you're going to need to gently(!!) clean the bottom of the jug to see if additional marks appear and what is already sort of visible can be clarified.

It surely does -- but I'm not knowledgeable enough to know what the best process or treatment would be. I see a lot of people promoting the boiling water/aluminum foil/baking soda method, but others saying this is not recommended for antique silver. Any advice? TIA

Thanks for the link! I will try to figure out the best way to gently clean it up so that those marks are more visible.

    Those were the days.
    £2 = $5.60 and double it £4 = $11.20

    Today £2 = $2.47

Gentle cleaning, with a silver cloth and a non abrasive cleaner.

I got it (relatively) clean and zoomed in for shots of the marks on the bottom. I think the first one looks a little like the lion image in the link Bakersgma shared. I don't know what the second mark would be. If the background looks a little weird, I think it's because I was zooming in and the now-shiny silver was very reflective. Thanks to everyone for your insights and suggestions!

Good job! I agree that the larger mark is the lion passant. The other one may be part of the leopard.

You first pictures showed the 2 marks and their relative positions. Can you take another picture of the 2 together so we can see how what you've revealed looks together? What's the distance between them?

Hi and welcome - are there any other marks? From what's shown, not seeing any problems with the dating - personally would think perhaps even a couple of decades earlier.

Please post your images as 'Full Image' rather than 'Thumbnail'. Thanks...
