Hello, all. I have for sale a 1:89 scale wooden model ship of Frigate Hermione, which has been handmade. The Hermione was a French ship that featured in the American Revolutionary War in 1779. It is especially known for carrying French General Lafayette to the United States in 1780. A lot of time and effort went into constructing this ship, and it is the end result of sheer determination and craftsmanship. It is a very special item. It is in very good condition. £100 + £40 postage (£140 in total). British buyers prefered, although if you are prepared to pay for the extra shipping, the import fees, and you don't mind the risk of transporting such a delicate item across long distances, I will gladly sell to non-British buyers. I have more photographs if you would like to see them.
You say a lot of time and effort... but looks like a production line product or built from a hobby shop kit o me. Who made it, if you know. Don't expect the average buyer to be satisfied with 1:89, the only clue on dimensions. Look up the original dimensions then do the conversion. Go ahead and tell everyone length, beam, and height of the model.
Well I needed to know so here are the dimensions I came up with: Length: 29.5", Beam: 11.2", Height: 23.2"
@springfld.arsenal Yes, it was built from a kit a long time ago. Trust me, it was no mean feat. I didn't build it, my late grandfather did. He was so proud of it, he had a case specifically made for it. Your dimensions are approximately correct. If the "average" buyer bought this ship, I would be shocked. It's actually surprising to me how difficult it is these days to sell model ships. It seems like an area that may be fading in popularity. Having said that, even I can appreciate the attention to detail that goes into something like this, and I'm not a model ship enthusiast. I think it deserves a loving home. I like it myself, but it's been taking up a lot of room, for one. And two, I'm saving up, so I'm clearing out some things that I don't need and selling them. He had a couple of model ships that we kept, the other one is a Japanese WW2 aircraft carrier which I am also selling.
