Featured mystery object

    it measures 29 cm high and 16 cm wide and 9 cm deep and weighs 2300 grams. it is a one piece object no removable parts.

    together with the tile stove kachel i bought this tile for 10 euro. is it a real William de morgan tile.

    Backstamp looks right. Beware……They are making copies now as they are desired objects.

    on the one hand, too bad it got broken. On the other, without that you might not have found it at all.

    That’s absolutely a William de Morgan and I am very very jealous. Even repaired it has value.

    I remember those stoves in Bavaria.

    while i was googling it is very hard to find a genuine tile of de morgan. thanks for the heads up.

    The impressed backstamp example I posted was genuine, taken from a good U.K. Auction house.

    I visited relatives in Hungary this summer, and several of them had a ceramic heating stove. They are very attractive. I too wonder if this is a salesman’s sample.
